My battle with clutter and hoarding

I have a problem with clutter, with which I have struggled all of my life.  I cannot remember ever living in a house that was not cluttered.  For 15 years, I have been attempting to address it in fits and starts. I remember when I was about 10 or 11, my father complained that there was never a clean flat surface in the house.  I can only seem to keep any surface clean for a few hours at a time. How to allow others to help

Although I titled this like a tutorial with the words “how to”, it isn’t one.  Instead, it is more a realization that I had today.  With our words, we often ask for help, but then with our actions, we push it away.  We often don’t realize that we are doing it, and we get frustrated.  With awareness, we might get our words and our actions into better alignment. Washing dishes without running water

When I was a small child (age 6, I believe), my family moved to a mountainside.  Our section of road had no name, and the town stopped maintaining it 2/3 of a mile from our house.  There was no electricity, no running water, no plowing.  A couple of years later we moved to an equally primitive home in a more settled area, and lived there until I was 12.  This was in the 1980s, and yes, it was very unusual for industrial New England.  My kids seem to think I grew up a century before I did simply based on my childhood stories.
